As of now, this is the last of them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI’m not sure when we’ll be able to get them again, but since we personally love these items and have them displayed in our own homes and showroom, we’ll continue to do our best to hunt them down. Haha.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eNow, on to the introduction.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis is a 1960s school chart from the Volk und Wissen Verlag, commonly known as VWV, a publishing house in the former East Germany that produced almost all of the country’s textbooks, teaching materials, and educational journals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThey are roll-up wall charts that were actually used in educational settings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe paper is mounted onto a linen backing to withstand frequent use, and despite some age-related wear, they are in great condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis specific piece was used as a teaching aid for electronics in the 60s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eSince I don’t know any German, I asked the dealer, who told me it was about electronics.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\"Electronics\" is a broad term, but to dig a bit deeper, it appears to be about a type of semiconductor called Germanium. Those working in this field or graduates of technical high schools might recognize it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eRegardless, the design is wonderful; I love the black background.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt’s as if the design instantly feels more polished or focused.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt features the kind of hand-drawn art that is unique to this era, rather than photography.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI’m drawn to the touch and color choices, which give it a somewhat mid-century atmosphere.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eBecause they were educational tools, they have a certain inorganic, functional quality that offers a unique charm distinct from traditional art.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eWe love them, and we have them displayed in our own homes. They can be hung as long as there is a single hook on the wall, so there’s no need for strenuous tasks like drilling holes or hammering nails, which keeps the barrier to entry low. Plus, they’re easy to store since you can just roll them up and save space.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI’d love to carry standard framed art, but I’ve always been nervous about shipping; we haven't introduced any since one arrived completely shattered in the past. (Haha)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis is one of the rare art pieces that can survive a long journey across borders without any fear of damage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThey are highly regarded in Europe and North America for their aesthetic quality, with an average price of over €150.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eDepending on the piece, many are traded for as much as €300–€500.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eAs I mentioned, after having used these as interior decor for years, photographing them, and feeling the quality of the paper firsthand, I truly think the quality is exceptional. It’s surprising that items with this level of quality and design were being produced in the 1960s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThey weren't mass-produced in the modern sense, but since they were issued by a large company as educational materials, that’s likely one of the reasons for their high quality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt’s a shame you can’t touch the actual items, but I guarantee you’ll be moved when you receive yours. Haha.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThey look far cooler than in photos and have such a presence. A real, heavy-duty \"presence.\" Haha.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThere are various types from all over the world, and there are even collectors for them.
