As of now, this is the last of them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI’m not sure when we'll be able to get more, but it’s something we personally love—we even display them in our own homes and at the showroom—so we’ll keep searching hard. Haha.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eNow, let’s move on to the introduction.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis is a 1960s school chart from Volk Und Wissen Verlag, commonly known as VWV, a publisher in the former East Germany that produced almost all textbooks, teaching materials, and educational journals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt’s a roll-up style wall chart that was actually used in educational settings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eTo withstand repeated use, the paper is mounted on a linen backing,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eand despite some signs of age, it is in good condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis particular piece was used as an astronomy teaching aid back in the 60s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI don’t know German at all, so I just guessed based on the design, but when I asked the dealer, they confirmed it was for astronomy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eRegardless, the design is just great—simply stylish. Haha.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI absolutely love this generous use of negative space.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt features hand-drawn illustrations rather than photos, which is typical of this era.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI’m drawn to the brushwork and color choices, which give off a somewhat mid-century vibe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eBecause they were educational tools, they have an inorganic quality and a lack of excess that gives them a unique appeal distinct from fine art.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eWe love them ourselves and have them hanging in our homes. Since they can be hung from just a single hook on the wall,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003ethey don’t require any heavy-duty work like drilling holes or hammering in nails, making them very accessible. Plus,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003ethey’re easy to store since you can just roll them up and they take up no space.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eAs for traditional framed art, even if I want to carry it, I’m always worried about shipping it,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eand I haven’t been able to offer any since one arrived smashed to pieces in the past. (Haha)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis is a rare piece of art that can endure long-distance international travel without any fear of breaking.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThey are highly regarded in Europe and North America for their excellent design, typically selling for over €150.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIn many cases, depending on the piece, they can trade for anywhere from €300 to €500.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eAs I mentioned, after living with these in our interiors for years, photographing them, and feeling the texture of the paper firsthand, I am genuinely amazed by the quality. It’s surprising that something of this quality and design was produced in the 60s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI think one reason for the high quality is that they weren't mass-produced in the modern sense, but were issued by a major company as official educational material.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt’s a shame you can’t touch the real thing, but I guarantee you’ll be moved when it arrives. Haha.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt looks much cooler and has more presence in person. A very \"manly\" presence, if you will.
