Large-sized rug, machine-made

European vintage rug.

This is a machine-woven rug, not a hand-woven wool carpet.

It features a wonderful, rich pattern reminiscent of a Persian rug.

I use a similar machine-woven rug in my own home;

rather than the coarse feel of kilim or Persian wool,

it has a smooth, pleasant texture, likely a wool (or cotton?) blend with some synthetic fibers.

The fabric is relatively thin with a flat, smooth feel,

making it lighter and easier to handle than kilim or Persian wool rugs, while still being quite durable.

You can fold it, place it in a mesh laundry bag, and wash it on a delicate cycle.

It has a short pile like velour, which I think you can see well if you look closely at the red areas of the rug.

It is difficult to date precisely, but machine-weaving was already thriving in Europe by the 1960s.

It is priced affordably because it is machine-woven rather than a true antique,

but a carpet of this size with shipping included is an excellent bargain.
