German antique cotton blouse.

Dating from the 1910s-20s, this is a wearable blouse that was used as casual outerwear or loungewear at the time.

The cutwork lace on the collar is simply magnificent. It features a square collar with horizontal and vertical layers of lace that I have rarely seen before. The delicate cutwork, which beautifully reveals the skin or garments worn underneath, is irresistible.

It features the three-dimensional tailoring characteristic of this era, designed to contour to the body. Details like the forward-set sleeves, the gussets, and the pattern that flares from the bodice to the hem are truly superb, offering a completely stress-free fit.

Of course, the lace from this era is entirely handmade. Cutwork lace is created by hand-cutting out the patterns and meticulously stitching the edges, and I am always in awe when I think about the sheer volume of manual work that went into every single hole. The delicate atmosphere it creates—something impossible to reproduce with machines—is breathtaking.

I also love that it opens at the front with buttons. It can be enjoyed year-round as both an outer layer and a blouse.

The initials "AT" are embroidered on the left chest. Please also take note of the gathers under the collar, which give the chest a soft, airy volume.

As always, the cotton has a remarkable durability that makes it hard to believe it is over 100 years old. It has been bleached and is now like new. Unlike modern cotton, it will likely last for another 100 years. I highly recommend it.
