A 925 sterling silver chain necklace from 1930s-40s France.
I sourced this in Paris the other day from an antique dealer I'm working with for the first time.
I was truly lucky to come across something this magnificent. It's irresistible!
This piece is decades older than any of the silver jewelry we have introduced before.
Before you know it, it will be nearly 100 years old. It’s scary how it doesn’t look its age at all.
That said, the style of the chain is unique; it’s the kind of thing that seems like it might exist, but actually doesn't.
Also, I think there are many of you who have been looking for this shorter length that follows the neckline.
Anyway, my husband kept saying he wanted it. lol It’s great even for men to wear at this short length, isn't it?
While muttering about how much I wanted it, I spent a long time having it polished until it was dazzlingly clean. Even the backside is perfect.
Because it's short like a choker, it will peek out from the ribbing of a T-shirt.
Of course, it also looks cool over a turtleneck in the coming seasons.
It is difficult to pinpoint the exact date of silver based solely on the hallmarks,
but we have listed it as 1930s-40s based on information from the dealer and the acquisition route.
We each own a piece of chunky vintage silver jewelry that we wear often,
and people really ask us about them all the time. Being vintage and one-of-a-kind, it’s a genre that’s truly difficult to source.
Even if you miraculously find some, most are too expensive to stock... If we could easily sell items for 500,000 or 1,000,000 yen, that would be another story, but you can't exactly buy that kind of price point easily from an online store that isn't a well-known brand. (Of course, I would like to challenge myself with such pieces in the future if we have a physical store or an opportunity for you to see them in person!)
While we currently have a desire to offer items at this price range, this time we were able to acquire them at a reasonable price through a fortunate encounter with a new dealer. I hate to keep going on about it, but you really can't buy this kind of design at this age, even if you wanted to!
Admittedly, it’s not exactly a cheap price at first glance, but I don’t think it’s expensive when you think about it over the course of a long life. Even if you wear it for a conservative estimate of 10 years, that’s 20,000 yen a year. Please rest assured that silver jewelry that has lasted since the 1940s and remains in this condition is quite resilient.
A senior colleague I respect recently said they were thinking of buying a piece of Chrome Hearts jewelry with this kind of mindset, and I thought it was a great way of thinking, so I tried imitating it. lol
Honestly, it’s such a wonderful treasure that I don’t even need to part with it, so I might suddenly pull it from the shop. I truly recommend it.
