1950s Czechoslovak People's Army "Dubáky" camouflage jacket

I’m so happy. This is a special piece.

Dropping this on an ordinary weekend.

In five years of running this shop, this is the third one I’ve found: Czechoslovak People's Army camouflage.

It’s in outstanding condition, a cardigan style with pockets, and the sizing is incredible too.

It’s not reversible, but because the fabric is naturally reversible, it looks cute even when worn inside out.

This was originally a smock, but it’s been modified back in the day into a front-buttoning, collarless open-front jacket. It’s truly elaborately made; the stitching and patterns on the sides and shoulders are fascinating.

The width is about an XL and the length is around an L—it has the perfect silhouette and fit.

The photos of it worn on the reverse side feature a female model, for your reference.

This camouflage is absolutely wild; it’s too cool.

The cotton fabric is also soft and high-quality—thicker than a shirt but lighter than a jacket.

To give a brief explanation of this camouflage, it’s the camo pattern used by the army of the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, which existed from the mid-50s until 1990.

Around here, it’s officially called the Czechoslovak People's Army, and the camouflage name is "DUBÁKY." A friend of mine in the vintage military business told me that this means "mushrooms" in Czech, and it's called that because it actually looks like them.

By the way, there are a few patterns of this People's Army camo, and this is the very first one.

You might be wondering what a "People's Army" is, but in short, it refers to an army maintained by a socialist state or a communist party.

Although the Czech Republic is a republic now, its history before the Velvet Revolution in '89 is extremely complex and heavy. It would take a long time to explain, so if you're interested, please look it up.

The communist regime ended with the revolution in '89, and there is the history of the country splitting into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in '93.

This story is truly important history for the current Czech Republic. When I hear stories from elderly people I occasionally meet at bars about those days—work, politics, war, immigration, and so on—the content is almost always breathtaking and intense.

And so, this is a truly historical piece.

It stands out for its unique look, its rarity, and so much more, but what makes me happiest is that it genuinely looks cool when you wear it.

Honestly, this is an item you can’t just find out in the wild. After living in Europe for about five years, we’ve built various connections and met people who were originally in the military, which is how we arrived at things like this.

I’m truly grateful for every connection.

It’s arriving at quite a price, but it’s a wonderful piece of clothing that cannot be judged by numbers alone.

I don’t like using the word "wonderful" too much, but this is truly wonderful.
