An exquisite rope chain made in Germany in the 1950s.

At first glance, it is a simple rope chain, but it possesses an atmosphere that is anything but ordinary.

The reproduction of the rope is incredibly detailed, and I was struck by the expressive quality of its twists.

After deciphering the fading hallmark, it turned out to be from the venerable manufacturer FBM.

Founded in 1910, this company specializes in chains, and while I have introduced their work many times before,

I believe this particular piece stands a head above the rest. It puts French silver to shame.

The 835 silver has a slightly more subdued, calm gray tone than 925,

making this a beautiful bracelet that evokes a distinctly German sense of darkness and shadow.
