1952 Georg Jensen sterling 925 necklace

We have finally been able to stock this long-awaited silver necklace.

This is a silver necklace from 1952 by the Danish silver master Georg Jensen.

It is a rare item with a design by his second son, created not long after Georg Jensen passed away in the 1930s.

It is a low-production piece.

It is identified as model #105, which is documented in period catalogs and the brand's literature.

It is said that they also produced a gold version with the same design, numbered 1105. I have included a photo at the end. It’s stunning!!

I have spent a long time researching this online;

while the bracelet is still found on the market and appears in books,

this necklace, however, was nowhere to be found.

Unlike the Art Nouveau, curved designs from the era of Georg Jensen himself,

this piece has an angular, rigid, and somewhat masculine design reminiscent of German silver.

Weighing nearly 100g, it has a substantial heft that is evident just by looking at it,

and a powerful presence created by the shadows of each individual silver link.

Georg Jensen was founded in Copenhagen in 1904.

He combined his artistic sensibilities—initially aiming for a career in sculpture and pottery—

with the silversmithing skills he acquired in his previous work.

He reportedly launched the business by investing what little money he had to support his family,

but it drew immediate attention due to its beauty and high quality.

After winning a gold medal at the World’s Fair, the brand expanded with branches all over the world.

He was a successful man with achievements too numerous to recount here,

and Georg Jensen remains a brand beloved and respected across the globe to this day.

Personally, the thing I love most about this brand is that

it created jewelry not as a symbol of wealth,

but as beauty for everyday life.

While I truly admire and respect Georg Jensen,

their pieces carry a rare premium for silver jewelry,

and vintage items in particular have seen prices skyrocket.

Some of you may be surprised by the price, but it is truly not high compared to the current market value.

I really hadn't planned on letting this go, but after being so moved by the Japanese national team yesterday, I felt inspired to list it. Haha.
