1960s Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden anatomical chart

This item was on display at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum in Dresden, East Germany.

The museum focuses on themes related to hygiene, health, the human body, and society. Founded in 1909, it initially centered on hygiene and preventive medicine, gradually expanding its scope to include health and medical topics over time.

This particular item is from the 1960s, a time when the museum provided educational exhibits on the structure and function of the human body, offering information to deepen the understanding of how the body works.

The museum also focuses on health management, disease prevention, and how lifestyle habits affect health. Furthermore, it incorporated many interactive elements so that general visitors could learn about their own health, and even featured participatory educational programs, particularly for children and families.

Today, we have five other items in stock; these are scroll-style wall hanging educational materials that were actually used in classrooms.

To ensure they could withstand repeated use, paper is affixed to a linen backing,

and although there is some age-related wear, there are no tears, and they are in good condition.

This time, we were able to acquire them as a collection from a dealer we know.

This one depicts fetal anatomy, and we have one other anatomy piece in stock today.

It features hand-drawn illustrations rather than photographs, characteristic of this era.

I am drawn to the touch and color choices, which evoke a certain mid-century atmosphere.

We love them ourselves and have them displayed in our home. You only need a single hook on the wall to hang them,

so there is no need for heavy labor like using a power drill or hammering in nails, making it very accessible, and they are easy to store as you can simply roll them up.

Even though I would love to handle art in standard frames, I am always worried about the shipping;

after one arrived completely shattered in the past, I haven't been able to offer them. (Haha)
