I got my hands on two of these recently through incredible luck.
Both are about the same size, and I love that they aren't too big.
The other one is worn by a female model who is 167cm tall.
This is the camouflage that was adopted by the East German National People's Army during the Cold War era, from the late 50s to the 60s. Short lived!
It was designed with a floral pattern in mind. Germany was the first country in the world to create camouflage, and it seems their development was impressive even back then. Incidentally, the Czech Republic also maintained a People's Army at the time and produced many masterpiece camouflages, and there is a theory that they were inspired by German camouflage.
I brought in one of these camo jackets last year, and while it didn't sell online, it was snapped up at an event in Osaka. I had been thinking about wanting to source them again, so I'm thrilled—overjoyed, really.
The fabric is cotton; if you imagine tent fabric, that should give you a good idea. However, it's not stiff, but rather soft, high-density, and has a smooth feel. Plus, this time the size is relatively compact and easy to wear.
With this huge hood and the pockets on the front of the chest that you can access—these were originally for storing a firearm, which is why they are shaped this way. They have more capacity than you'd think, which is great.
I think this is perfect for the coming season. It can handle a bit of rain, and you could probably wear it as an outer layer in fall and winter if you layer up underneath.
By the way, the hem, waist, and hood can be tightened with drawstrings.
