1960s French work jacket

Orange French workwear.

This is the first time we’ve had this in stock at TOTO, and I’m thrilled.

The material is 100% cotton and it is in new, unused condition.

This is an old piece of French workwear in a color you rarely come across.

You occasionally find orange work jackets from the 70s or later that are a polyester blend, but finding an older one in 100% cotton like this is incredibly rare—it's a real find.

I picked this up during my buying trip to France last weekend. As for why it’s this color, it seems its purpose was different from the blue work jackets we usually imagine; it was apparently issued in the 60s to people working on bridges or at sea, as the color provided high visibility for hazardous tasks.

It’s still deadstock and the fabric is nice and crisp, but as you wear and wash it, it will soften up and become even more comfortable. The shoulders will settle in nicely over time.

It even has a great label on the inside—a truly superb piece.

I’m looking forward to styling this one; it would look great personalized with some pins.

It’s a jacket I’d personally love to own myself.
