This is the first time TOTO has stocked a 1960s US military aggressor shirt.
It’s a pretty rare and niche piece.
Some of you may already know this, but let me briefly explain the details!
As the name implies, "aggressor" refers to an invading force. During the Cold War in the 1960s, these were produced and issued as uniforms for US troops to wear during military exercises, representing the opposing side—in this case, the Soviet Union.
Because of this, there are trousers and jackets that exist in addition to the shirt we have in stock. I have yet to see a jacket in person.
I remember clearly back when I used to go on buying trips to America, I would see these shirts and trousers at flea markets, but they were so expensive that I always had to pass them up. Haha.
Getting back to the point, since it was made to simulate an enemy force, it’s a different tone of green from standard US military uniforms, which looks great—a subtle shade of green, and it has even more character in person.
It’s amazing, isn't it? The US military. Haha.
The fact that they went out of their way to create these items just for military exercises really shows the extent of their national power. Haha.
According to someone knowledgeable about military gear, most of these aggressor-series items were incinerated back then, so very few remain. It’s the kind of thing that really gets you fired up—if you’re looking at it from a masculine perspective, anyway. Haha.
Given that background, they are incredibly scarce, and I never thought I’d be able to find them while buying in Europe, so I was truly surprised when I did. So happy!
The construction of this shirt is excellent, starting with the fabric.
It’s a high-density, slightly thick cotton, but it’s soft and easy to wear. It features a pullover design with large pockets on the chest.
The way the sleeves are set and their width is also great; it has a level of coolness that’s hard to believe for a garment from the 60s.
You’ll fall in love with it even more once you put it on; it’s just incredibly cool.
It’s a very tough piece to wear, and I highly recommend it.
It has been washed once.
