1960s VWV school chart of a liquid-fuelled rocket

A publisher that produced almost all textbooks, teaching materials, and educational journals in the former East Germany.

A 1960s school chart from Volk und Wissen Verlag, commonly known as VWV.

These are classic roll-up wall hanging teaching aids that were actually used in classrooms.

The paper is mounted on a linen backing to withstand repeated use; while there is some minor aging, there are no tears, and it is in good condition.

We were able to acquire a collection of these from a dealer we know.

This one appears to be a teaching aid about liquid-fuelled rockets. (I have no idea what it actually says! (lol))

It features hand-drawn illustrations rather than photographs, which is typical of this era.

We are drawn to the brushwork and color choices, which evoke a mid-century atmosphere.

Its utilitarian, no-frills quality—distinct from pure art—is part of its unique charm.

We love them ourselves and have them displayed in our home. Since they only require a single hook on the wall, there's no need for heavy labor like using a power drill or hammering in nails, which makes them very easy to hang.

They are also easy to store—you simply roll them up and they take up very little space.

Although we would love to carry standard framed art, we've had trouble with shipping; after one arrived completely shattered, we stopped offering them. (lol)

This is a fantastic art piece that can survive international transport without the fear of breakage.

They are highly regarded in Europe and North America for their excellent design, and usually fetch prices of 150€ or more.

There are many varieties around the world, and there are even collectors for them. The fact that it is difficult to come across the same one twice is sure to pique the interest of vintage lovers.
