I recently had the opportunity to meet with a dealer acquaintance, and they managed to collect more for us. For now, this is the last of them.
I’m not sure when we’ll be able to get them again, but since we personally love these items and display them in our own homes and showroom, we will keep hunting for them. Haha.
Now, let’s move on to the introduction.
These are 1960s school charts from Volk und Wissen Verlag, also known as VWV, a publisher in the former East Germany that produced almost all textbooks, teaching materials, and educational journals.

They are roll-up wall hanging teaching aids that were actually used in educational settings.
To withstand repeated use, the paper is backed with linen, and although there is some minor age-related wear, they are in great condition.
This one was used as a teaching tool for nuclear power plants back in the 60s.
I don’t understand German at all, so I just had a hunch based on the design, but when I asked the dealer, they confirmed it.
We stocked a nuclear-themed chart last time too, and it was seriously cool; I think this whole series is amazing. Haha.
The black background and the way the colors are balanced and applied are truly stylish. It’s simply cool.
It features hand-drawn art, not photographs, which is characteristic of the era.
I’m drawn to the brushwork and color choices, which evoke a certain mid-century atmosphere.
Because they were educational materials, they have an inorganic quality and a lack of unnecessary elements that give them a unique charm distinct from fine art.
We love them and have them displayed in our home too. Since you only need one hook on the wall to hang them,
it’s low-hurdle—no heavy labor like drilling holes or hammering in nails—
and when you want to store them, you can just roll them up, which is great for saving space.
We’d love to handle standard framed art, but we’re always worried about shipping;
after one arrived shattered in the past, we haven't been able to offer them since. (Haha)
This is a rare art piece that you don't have to worry about breaking even when traveling across borders.
They are highly regarded in Europe and North America for their excellent design, and they typically fetch over €150.
Depending on the item, many are traded for between €300 and €500.
As I mentioned, we’ve used them as interior decor for years, photographed them, and experienced the paper quality firsthand, and I can tell you the quality is genuinely high. It’s surprising that something with this level of quality and design was produced in the 60s.
I think one reason for the high quality is that they weren't just mass-produced, but published by a major company as official teaching materials.
It’s a pity you can’t touch them in person, but I guarantee you’ll be impressed when it arrives. Haha.
They look far cooler in person than in photos and have a strong presence—what I’d call "manly" presence. "Manly." Haha.
There are various types from all over the world, and there are even collectors for them. I think the fact that it’s hard to come across the same one twice is something that tickles the heart of a vintage lover.
