1970s East German leather rider's jacket

I don't know what to do, it's just too cool.

First of all, this color—a deep green with touches of red—is simply irresistible.

Needless to say, the leather quality is perfect; it’s softer than anything I've ever felt, truly incredibly soft. Supple and moist to the touch.

The lining is also lovely; the bodice is a thin wool check fabric that isn't stiff or itchy, and the sleeves are cotton. It's stress-free and can even be worn into early spring.

I'm so happy to have a rider's jacket that I can wear all year round, except in the heat of summer.

What I personally value most is this minimal, stripped-back design.

It’s the type with absolutely no embellishments around the waist, which is really rare.

I think that’s where this coolness comes from. It would usually have belts or side adjusters, but what a simple design—it has that cold, distinctive feel of the former East Germany. A vintage piece that fits perfectly in the modern day.

And this compact sizing—the way a rider's jacket should be.

A niche vintage find in excellent condition, it's the best.
