We’ve just received some pieces from one of my favorite categories of clothing.
A ski jacket from around the 60s-70s.
It’s a larger size and most likely deadstock. We come across these every so often, but it is quite difficult to find them in a large size and in such good condition.
High-density, high-quality cotton fabric. The cotton used in old ski jackets is truly something else.
It’s fantastic. I feel like I write that every time, though. Haha.
The high collar, the lining color (a deep blue) that plays off this specific check pattern, and the front zipper all work together to create a look that is stylish while also having a bit of charm.
I think a ski jacket in this plaid pattern is quite rare.
There are two zippered pockets at the waist, which is also a nice touch.
It also features a thin layer of batting. It’s very thin, making it easy to wear. It’s light and won't weigh down your shoulders. It feels almost like wearing a very thin duvet.
It’s quite cold in Prague today, but I was able to shoot outside wearing just a T-shirt underneath without any issues.
It feels like you could easily layer a thick hoodie underneath it as well.
It’s also a great size for women, and it looked very cute. In photos 3-5, the person wearing it is 167cm tall. The men's model is 174cm.
It isn't reversible, but it would look cool worn inside out as well.
Ski jackets are definitely one of my top recommendations; they’re surprisingly rare to see people wearing, which is another reason I like them.
Given the quality of the fabric and the design, I believe these are vintage pieces that deserve more recognition.
