A nameless masterpiece of a silver bangle from 1970s France.
It is simply a square iron rod with sharp edges bent into shape, yet it is strangely captivating.
The thrill I get every time I see it on my wrist is truly something else.
It’s that shiver-inducing feeling of raw, cold detachment—like what you might feel from Brutalist architecture...
I feel like I have found in this bangle the ultimate beauty that lies at the end of being stripped down to the bare essentials.
This hits my personal taste so directly that I apologize for this description sounding like nothing more than my own personal opinion.
In fact, this design bears a striking resemblance to the iconic 1970s square bangle by
French designer Dinh Van, who used to design jewelry for Cartier.
Some of you may already be aware of it,
but it is so similar that I almost wonder if it’s the real thing, just without the hallmark. (Haha)
It’s rare to find on the market, making it difficult to acquire, but
this is more than enough for me. It’s superb.
Although there is no hallmark, I have tested it with chemical agents, so
it is undoubtedly at least 900-grade pure silver.
Despite its simplicity, it has a solid, dense weight of nearly 20g.
I usually price my silver jewelry based not only on weight but also on the originality of the design and the complexity of the craftsmanship, but
for this piece, I have set the price based on its rarity, as there is nothing else quite like it, and the unique personality and aura that this bangle possesses.
