It’s a brand started by Massimo Osti in '81 and discontinued in '93.
It’s one of the brands I personally love to wear, and for me, the charm lies in the fact that it doesn’t feel as polished as Stone Island or C.P. Company.
That said, the fabrics and designs they used are similar—or rather, since Stone Island launched in '82, it's a topic that comes up whenever I talk with collectors: everyone tends to call it an experimental brand. I have to agree, it really is.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen this particular piece; it really makes you think, "I didn't know something like this existed."
It looks simple at first glance, but it’s great in so many ways.
The fabric is interesting, and the hood design is unmistakably Massimo—if you know, you know.
I love this shiny fabric, and the fact that it’s moderately padded is a huge plus for me.
It’s a nylon-polyurethane blend; the 10% polyurethane adds strength, but I think that percentage is the key—it doesn't get too stiff and maintains a nice crispness. It repels water perfectly.
The 360-degree silhouette is fantastic; that’s one of the things I love about C.P. and Stone as well.
It would look cool worn inside out, and cinching the waist is another great way to style it.
Not many people wear this brand, which is another thing I love about it—there are no patches or obvious branding (though some series do have them), so the lack of overt labels is very attractive.
It’s understated, but has such a strong presence. You know what I mean? Haha.
Finally, this is deadstock; it came with tags, but they have been removed. If you purchase it, I’ll include the tags in the pocket when I ship it to you.
This is a piece that has really struck a chord with me lately.
When you look for a puffer in this color, you can never find a truly good one, so I’ve been looking for one myself and it’s just the perfect mood—I really want to wear it.
I highly recommend it, and I’d be happy if you share my enthusiasm.
