1980s EMPORIO ARMANI MADE IN ITALY

This is a wonderfully cool jacket from Emporio Armani, dating back to the 1980s.

EMPORIO ARMANI was born in Italy in 1981 as Giorgio Armani's diffusion line.

The early 80s was an era of intense counterculture, with punk and the "Paninari" (so-called American casual) style thriving in Italy. It was a new age for the younger generation, and since this piece was born right in the midst of that movement, this jacket is a fantastic item that captures the backdrop of that era perfectly. The color, the design, the silhouette—everything about it is incredible.

Based on my research, Armani’s own passion for fabric, as well as his use of high-quality, modern, and minimalist colors, were truly extraordinary.

Everything just clicked for me. It’s simple.

It features a beautiful, indescribable color that looks like an emerald green with a slightly muted tone, complemented by a simple design. The details throughout are genuinely cool.

First, there's the off-center front design, which can be opened and closed using both a zipper and snap buttons.

It looks just as cool worn open as it does closed. It's rare to find clothing produced with such perfect balance.

There's a drawstring inside the collar that allows it to stand up beautifully in a three-dimensional shape. Then there’s the design from the shoulders to the sleeves, the look of the snap buttons... the list goes on and on. Haha.

And, more than anything, I was surprised by the lining. From the back of the neck down to the sleeves, it uses an incredibly sophisticated viscose (a type of rayon) material, while the front panels and the back portion consist of a double-faced cotton sweat material.

It’s crazy. Haha. This sweat material is just amazing in every way.

The construction really reflects this brand's sense of inquiry and energy. I really want you to touch it. Haha.

It has thin batting inside, so I think it'll be perfect for the upcoming season and for the height of autumn and winter.

As for the nylon outer shell, it’s a high-density, fine-textured, supple material—you can really tell this was a costly piece of clothing to produce.

I personally have a strong attachment to this EMPORIO ARMANI piece; I’ve even thought about adding it to my personal archive. I believe it’s a garment that reflects the play, the voices, and the associated background of the Italian youth at the time.

It’s like a uniform, in a way.
