1980s Royal Navy Ventile windproof deck smock - size 2

Killer Ventile smock.

An absolute monster of a special arrival on an otherwise ordinary weekday.

This is the first time I've successfully sourced this since moving to Europe.

I am honestly, truly happy.

I've worn one myself for years, and it's a jacket I genuinely love—I've decided that no matter what happens, this is one piece I will never let go of. Haha.

I always cinch the waist and hem to enjoy that rounded silhouette; I wear this one every time I go on buying trips where I'm mainly walking around. It handles sudden rain, the pockets are secure for keeping things safe, and above all else, it's just a tough smock.

That’s only natural, as it was issued to soldiers working in the harsh environments of the deck crew. It’s a piece designed and built with great thought: the large, cool hood is made to be worn over a helmet without any discomfort; there's a snap-button flap to secure cords; and to withstand wind and rain, it’s made with a Ventile surface and a cotton twill lining. This Ventile is a fabric developed for the RAF, and its performance is truly high-end.

What's more, the more you use it, the better it looks.

I'm thrilled that this one is a size 2, which is a compact fit. It’s a smock with a substantial feel (though not heavy at all).

This is a rare opportunity. It’s expensive, but I highly recommend it.
