Miraculously, I was able to source a large quantity of deadstock.
You rarely see things like this. Haha.
The pair in the photos is the same item but my own personal pair; I wanted to ship the ones for sale with the Stone Island tags still attached, so I used my own for the shoot.
These are truly cool pants, so please take a good look at the photos.
Stone Island was born in 1982, and their entire first collection was crafted using this fabric called "Tela Stella." These pants are made from that very fabric.
You see jackets sometimes, but this is the first time I've come across pants.
I don't know the specifics of the collection, but I believe it's from 1982 or the collection immediately following.
Since these are an expensive pair, I will explain the fabric properly below, but first I want to share my own personal impressions. Actually, I own five pairs of these "Tela Stella" pants personally, and I decided to break out one of these new ones for experimental purposes. The reason is that my other pairs are from Boneville rather than Stone Island. While the designer, Massimo, is the same, I’m not sure if it’s due to the brand difference or what, but the cotton composition ratio in this Tela Stella fabric is different; the Stone Island pants I have in stock now feel just a tiny bit thicker than the Boneville ones I own. Just a tiny bit.
They are incredibly comfortable to wear, lightweight, and have a crisp, high-density feel. They also dry incredibly fast after washing. Haha.
And as you break them in, they fade beautifully, truly.
They develop a kind of cracking fade in the areas subject to stress. I hope this conveys it, but it’s a fabric that you can really enjoy aging—the more you wear it and wash it, the more refined it becomes. Bravo.
These deadstock pairs have a long inseam, but I personally always wear mine cuffed. Since it's a double-dyed fabric, the color on the reverse side is also really lovely—please check the photos.

Actually, this "Tela Stella" fabric was something Massimo discovered at a certain company as a new material for a brand he was working with in the 70s. It was a 100% cotton canvas originally intended for sunshades, a double-dyed fabric that had been returned to the company because it faded after washing. However, Massimo saw it and thought it was "beautiful"; he didn't view the fading or the aging as a flaw—in fact, he saw the opposite.
He was captivated by that specific texture and saw value and charm in the creases and fading. He decided to recreate it, brought the jacket that had been returned to another company, and conducted various processing tests to replicate that exact feel.
In any case, he apparently tested it over and over again until he was satisfied. Haha.
And what was used back then was a canvas fabric with different colors on each side—one side red, the other green—that had been subjected to a very intense, hard-wash process.
That is the fabric used for the pants I have in stock now.
There are various color variations of garments that used this Tela Stella fabric.
Personally, I really love this colorway: green and navy. It's stylish.
Regardless, this is a signature Stone Island fabric, and it really is cool. It's a fabric unique to Stone Island—or rather, unique to Massimo—so I think it’s truly one-of-a-kind.
And back then, at the very first exhibition, these Tela Stella items sold so well that they had to be pulled from sale, and after that, production couldn't keep up with demand. Haha.
We wear them ourselves, and they are amazing. They get you excited, and you can just throw them on with anything and look great.
Whether you’re already familiar with them or not, I highly recommend them—especially for those who haven’t bought Stone Island yet, since this is such an iconic piece!!
This has gotten long, but it’s very rare to be able to stock this many at once, so I recommend them from the bottom of my heart.
