Against all odds, I managed to stock a large quantity of these as deadstock.

The pair worn in the photos is the same model, but it's my own personal pair; I wanted to ship the ones I'm selling with the Stone tags still attached, so I shot the photos in my own.
These are seriously cool, so please take a good look at the photos a few times.
Stone Island was born in 1982, and their entire first collection was made using this fabric called "Tela Stella"—these are pants made from that very fabric.
I see the jackets often, but this is the first time I've come across the pants.
I'm not exactly sure which collection they are from, but I believe it's either from 1982 or the collection immediately following.
Since these are an expensive pair, I'll properly explain the fabric below, but I want to start with my own impressions. I actually own five pairs of these "Tela Stella" pants personally, and I've kept one of these newly arrived pairs for myself for experimental purposes. The reason is that my other personal pairs are actually Boneville pants, not Stone Island. While they were still designed by Massimo, I'm not sure if it's because of the brand difference, but the cotton ratio in this Tela Stella fabric feels slightly thicker than my Boneville pair. Just slightly.
They are incredibly comfortable to wear; they're lightweight, and have a crisp, high-density feel. They also dry incredibly fast after washing. Haha
They also fade beautifully as you wear them in, really.
They develop fades where the stress points crack—I hope that makes sense, but it’s a fabric that you can really enjoy aging; the more you wear and wash them, the more character they develop. Bravo.
These are deadstock, so the length is quite long, but I personally always wear mine cuffed. Since it's a double-dyed fabric, the color on the inside is also really lovely, so please check the photos.

Actually, Massimo first discovered this "Tela Stella" fabric as a new material for a brand he was working with in the 70s. It was a 100% cotton canvas used for awnings, and it was double-dyed. Apparently, it was returned to the company because it faded after washing, but Massimo thought it was "beautiful." He didn't see the fading or the aging as a defect—quite the opposite, in fact.
He was captivated by that aesthetic, seeing the crumples and fading as a value and a charm. He decided to recreate it after looking at the returned jackets, took it to another company, and went through countless processing tests to replicate the exact same texture.
Regardless, he apparently tested it over and over again until he was satisfied. Haha
The fabric used at that time was a canvas with different colors on each side—one side red, the other green—which had been through a very intense, hard-wash process.
And that is exactly the fabric used for these pants that have just arrived.
There are various color variations of garments made with this Tela Stella fabric.
Personally, I really love this colorway—green and navy. It's so stylish.
Either way, it's the iconic Stone fabric, and it's truly cool. It’s a fabric unique to Stone—or rather, unique to Massimo—so I think it's the definition of one-of-a-kind.
Back then, at the first exhibition, these Tela Stella items sold so well that they had to stop sales, and even after that, production couldn't keep up with demand. Haha
We wear them ourselves, and they're just amazing. They get you excited, and they look great just thrown on casually.
Whether you already know about them or not, I highly recommend them—especially to those who haven't bought Stone Island before. They are iconic pieces!!
