Against all odds, I managed to stock a large quantity of these as deadstock.

The pair worn in the photos is the same model, but it’s from my personal collection; I took the photos in my own pair because I wanted to ship these out to you with the Stone tag still attached.
It’s a truly incredible pair of pants, so please take a good look at the photos.
Stone Island was born in 1982, and their very first collection was made entirely from this fabric called "Tela Stella." These pants are made from that exact material.
I see jackets around sometimes, but this is the first time I've come across pants.
I don't know the specifics of the collection, but I believe it’s from 1982 or the collection immediately following.
Since these are an expensive item, I'll explain the fabric properly below, but first, I want to share my own thoughts. Actually, I own five pairs of these "Tela Stella" pants personally, and I’ve made this latest arrival a personal pair as well for experimental purposes. The reason is that my other personal pairs are Boneville, not Stone Island. While the designer, Massimo [Osti], is the same, perhaps because the brand is different, the cotton blend ratio in this Tela Stella fabric seems slightly different. The Stone Island pants I have in stock now feel just a tiny bit thicker than my Boneville pair. Just a tiny bit.
They are incredibly comfortable to wear, lightweight, and have a crisp, high-density feel. They also dry remarkably fast after washing. Haha.
Also, as you break them in, they fade in such a cool way, really.
The colors fade in a way that cracks at the stress points. I hope this comes across, but it’s a fabric that you can truly enjoy aging—the more you wear it and wash it, the more refined it gets. Bravo.
Since these are deadstock, the inseam is quite long, but I always cuff mine when I wear them. Because it's a double-dyed fabric, the color on the inside is also really lovely, so please check the photos.
Below, I’ll briefly summarize information that is detailed in books.
Actually, regarding this "Tela Stella" fabric: it seems Massimo first found it at a certain company as a new material for the brand he was running in the 70s. It was a 100% cotton canvas for sunshades, and it was a double-dyed fabric. Apparently, it was returned to the company because it faded after washing, but at that time, Massimo thought it was "beautiful." He didn't see color fading or aging as a defect—he saw it as the opposite.
Regardless, he seemed fascinated by that texture and saw value and charm in the creases and fading. He decided to recreate it after seeing the returned jacket, took it to another company, and went through various processing tests to replicate the same texture.
In any case, he apparently tested it over and over again until he was satisfied. Haha.
The material used back then was a canvas fabric with different colors on each side—red on one side and green on the other—that had undergone a very harsh washing process.
And that is the fabric used for the pants arriving now.
There are various color variations for clothing items using this Tela Stella fabric.
Personally, I really love this colorway: green and navy. It’s stylish.
Anyway, this is the fabric that represents Stone Island. It’s truly cool, and since it’s a fabric exclusive to Stone Island—or rather, to Massimo—I think it’s truly one-of-a-kind.
And back then, these Tela Stella items were so popular at the first exhibition that they were discontinued, and it seems they remained in a state where production couldn't keep up with demand after that. Haha.
We actually wear them all the time; they’re amazing. They get me excited, and you just look cool throwing them on with anything.
