1997/98 Rocky Horror Show - XL

A rare tour T-shirt from the 1997–98 European tour of the iconic horror musical, "The Rocky Horror Show."

With its enduring, unfading popularity as a cult B-horror movie, The Rocky Horror Show was actually what first sparked my interest in vintage T-shirts.

初めてヴィンテージのTシャツに興味を持ったきっかけはこの作品でした。

This black body with the red horror font is the quintessential punk design that comes to mind when you think of Rocky Horror.

The European tour tee even features the name of the genius Richard O'Brien, who wrote the original play, the screenplay, and also acted in it.

It appears to have been deadstock since its original purchase, but has been washed once.

The fabric is a perfect middle-weight—not too thick, not too thin—that will only look better with repeated wear.

I originally only knew it as a film, but it began in early 70s London, a horror-comedy overflowing with power amidst the chaos, blending incomprehensible plot developments with sexual minority themes (rare at the time), sophisticated bondage fashion, and 50s rock.

It seems it was too sensational at the time, sparking both controversy and praise, but it gradually gained a cult following, even leading to cosplay screenings (perhaps the first in the world?) where fans dressed as the characters.

It is a pioneering and truly great work that influenced diverse cultures.

What I truly love about T-shirts is how they can make you want to rewatch a work or discover it for the first time.

Vintage Rocky Horror T-shirts are rarely seen these days, and this is a niche item that was distributed in parts of Europe.

I’d love to style this with black Levis and Converse for a punk-inspired all-black summer look.
