A muff is a cylindrical handbag-cum-handwarmer made from fur or feathers. It was originally introduced into women's fashion in 1570, and it was apparently a popular fashion item in the 1940s and 50s. (I have attached a few photos showing how noblewomen actually used them at the time)
This particular muff features rabbit fur made in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s. I feel like it would probably be impossible to find another one if I tried.
It is made of high-quality brown fur, with the bag section crafted from black cotton fabric. It is positioned much like a clutch bag, but it is quite functional during winter. I tried keeping my hands tucked inside all the way home, and it was genuinely warm.
Furthermore, it is in a condition that suggests it has barely been used. The ball chain on the bag section is beautiful, and the zipper slides smoothly. It is spacious enough to easily hold a wallet. The lining is also made of clean cotton and is sturdily constructed.
Vintage items are addictive because fashion pieces from hundreds of years ago look so fresh again today.
