French vintage cotton jacket.
A rare vintage find in white workwear, and in an uncommon women's size.
I sourced this last October in the suburbs of Paris, France,
and have been waiting for this warmer season to arrive.
The texture of the cotton, the buttons, the stitching, and even the thread used
have an aged quality that rivals true antiques.
After comparing it with the details of work jackets from the same era,
I have determined it dates from the 1930s or earlier.
The soft, durable vintage cotton fabric
is of a light weight that is perfect for wearing alone or as an outer layer through the end of June.
It features a 4-pocket chore jacket design with a mandarin collar
and old wood-effect plastic buttons spaced closely together.
It is truly a design I have never seen before.
The back can be tightened with cords like a corset,
and there is a hole for a belt on one side of the waist.
I couldn't figure out its original purpose even after researching it...
I hope to uncover that someday, but this is a rare piece
and I have no idea when I might encounter another one.
