An antique Hungarian embroidered linen dress.
This is a special piece I purchased in Budapest.
When you think of Hungary, you often picture vibrant, colorful embroidery based on bright red, but this black-and-white color scheme is rare, and I was incredibly drawn to it.
If you look at the close-up photos, you can see the intricate patterns of the iconic black embroidery on the collar and sleeves.
The embroidery is so dense it almost looks like it was painted solid black—it is truly beautiful.
The back style, with its stunning sleeve embroidery and gathers, is a particular highlight.
Made of a rich, substantial antique linen fabric,
the sleeves and collar, featuring numerous fine gathers, create a beautiful volume and silhouette.
In contrast, the skirt is simple, featuring only side gussets.

The woman who owned this, Erika-sama, is a lovely elderly lady with passion and pride for her motherland and its history—the kind of person who feels like she's been doing this for 70 years, loving and being loved by Hungary!
According to Erika-sama, this appears to be a dress from the 1920s in Eastern Hungary intended for a funeral.
While there is no information about it on the internet and this comes solely from her, there is no doubt that it is an incredibly rare and beautiful garment.
It can be worn in any season; right now, I hope you enjoy showing off its beauty by wearing it on its own or layered over a turtleneck.

Condition - Please understand that there are stains in various places before purchasing. For details, such as on the skirt hem and the upper back, please see the corresponding photos at the end and how it looks in the worn photos.
They might come out if spot-bleached, but I can't be sure. Erika-sama told me, "If you want to remove stains, use lemon and vinegar! Anything else is chemical and bad!" Haha.
I didn't want to try that out of respect for her wishes, but I think it might be worth consulting a skilled Japanese dry cleaner.
I was hesitant because of the stains, but it was just too cute; she said to me, "Things like this are almost always stained!" and indeed, this was the cleanest piece in her entire collection.
I figured, "You're right, this doesn't even count as a stain!" and bought it with enthusiasm. Haha. Considering the condition, I hope it finds someone who will love it as much as I do.
