1950s bowling shirt

What a cool piece.

I mean, look at this distressing—isn't the repair work on this insane?

You rarely see 50s bowling shirts with this level of repair.

I picked this up in France last year.

I think about this often when I see pieces like this: American vintage that has passed through Europe just hits different.

This might be a bit of a niche point, but I'm sure any buyer who has sourced in both America and Europe will understand what I mean.

Personally, I was just happy to find it in France; old French clothing truly has such wonderful repair work. France has such a long-standing culture of that, and it's just lovely.

The way they'll meticulously darn or sashiko-stitch everything back together...

It's been repaired so perfectly that it's actually in great condition.

There aren't any big holes, and you'll be able to wear it and love it for a long time to come.

The fabric is, of course, that old, flowy rayon. You can really understand why rayon shirts from this era are so highly valued; it's truly amazing that even in 2024, the fabric is still so incredibly full of life.

I'm always impressed by the craftsmanship and the materials of the past.

And above all, it looks absolutely outstanding when you actually wear it—the color is top-tier, too.

Personally, this is the coolest bowling shirt I've ever come across.
