A shell parka issued to the U.S. military for use in extreme cold regions during the Korean War in the 1950s.
Commonly known as the M-51 fishtail parka or mods coat.
This is the first time we have had this in stock, and it has become a difficult item to source lately.
The material is a high-density cotton-nylon blend—truly excellent quality.
It features a voluminous silhouette, a large hood, and two large pockets on the front.
It looks great.
We use it ourselves as personal items, and it is incredibly versatile. I often take it with me on buying trips; since I do a lot of walking, it works well for sudden rain, and by adjusting the inner layers, it can be worn in any season except for the middle of summer.
Of course, I wear it in other situations as well, but especially during this time of year, I find myself reaching for it often.
Personally, the more a piece of clothing makes me experience this phenomenon, the higher I rate it. Haha.
Also, although there are differences in national power, vintage military gear is generally very cool and easy to incorporate into modern fashion.
I always find it fun how much the look can change depending on the styling.
This particular piece has some stains and repairs, but it has a wonderful character.
I personally like it in this kind of condition. I think it looks cool.
The size tag says S, but it fits like a men's L.
It's lightweight, washable, durable, and above all, it looks great.
Vintage military items just have such good fabric. Haha.
