This is the first time we've had a Maquignon coat in stock at TOTO.
I never expected to come across a piece this cool.
Since it's our first time stocking them, let me explain a little! (Partly for my own sake, haha.)
It's a type of French work coat, and "Maquignon" means horse dealer—so it's the kind of coat they wore back in the day.
I mean, just look at how stylish this coat is. Haha.
The charcoal black color and the fabric are just superb.
Much older Maquignon coats are sometimes made of linen, but this one is from around the 50s-60s. The fabric is likely a cotton-poly blend, or perhaps there's a specific name for this type of material, but I’m certain it's a cotton-synthetic mix.
It's a shame you can't touch it in person, but it's an excellent fabric—thin yet tough and lightweight. Yes, the fact that it's incredibly light is another one of its charms.
It’s got plenty of pockets, it looks great—it’s perfect.
I’ve been buying for the shop for many years, but I think this is a coat you rarely come across.
