A stunning rug from 1960s Hungary.

It’s a work of art.

The surface is made of thick, high-quality wool, with an old cotton backing.

This particular piece features an atomic pattern in orange and yellow on a black base.

It’s a striking and incredibly cool color scheme that stands out even within the Mid-Century aesthetic.

You rarely come across this color palette.

I was floored when I found it during my buying trip to Hungary at the end of last year...

These so-called 60s-70s Mid-Century Modern rugs are items with collectors worldwide. In fact, in Europe, they’re quite popular—I often see them being enjoyed as decor in cool restaurants I drop by or at friends' homes.

Even if you ask them, "I want that! Let me have it!", they almost always say no. Haha.

Since moving here, I’ve become captivated by them myself. Beyond the presence and the coolness of the patterns, I’m deeply drawn to the quality of the materials and the fact that these designs only existed in this era.

We actually use a rug from the same period in our own home, and it’s just so cool. Haha.

It never gets old, and surprisingly, it seems to harmonize with any kind of furniture.

It has a one-of-a-kind presence.

While some brands are releasing modern reproductions due to current trends, or producing other tribal-style rugs with vintage treatments, I truly believe they can never beat the original. Haha.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about that. Haha.

Especially when it comes to the world of rugs, I think that's the case.

Products created amidst the various cultures, energy, and political climates of that time are cool regardless of category.

Apologies for the long-windedness!! Since this is the first rug of 2022, I typed a bit more than usual... Haha.
