A cool 1970s cotton gabardine trench coat from Belgium.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen this iridescent gabardine! When it hits the light or the fabric moves, it gives off a subtle, shimmering, pearlescent luster. You can even catch that delicate sheen in the photos.

The high-density cotton weave is every bit as tough as those found on Burberrys.

It possesses a high level of quality that reminds me of the excellent fabrics found in vintage military and workwear.

Beyond the superior quality of the fabric, the shape, design, and silhouette of this trench are wonderful,

and with details like the belt and the chin hook & strap that allow for a stand-up collar, it’s a piece I’ve grown to love more the longer I look at it.

I want to say that this is not your average flashy trench coat. It is truly luxuriously crafted.

In addition to the standard large pockets near the hem/waist, it is fully equipped with chest pockets on both sides, offering plenty of storage.

Cotton gabardine has been used for raincoats since way back in the day,

and this sturdy, rugged fabric makes you wonder, "Is this really 100% cotton?" It feels like it should have some nylon in it—it's just that good, I’m reminded once again.

A trench coat made from the kind of fabric from a truly great era that is surprisingly hard to find, even from famous makers. This is one of those pieces that you should own. Highly recommended.
