The items I’ve collected this time were made using a technique called latch hooking, popular from the 70s through the 80s.

Originally, kits for hand-weaving high-quality rugs at home were available as early as the beginning of the 19th century.

Between the 30s and 60s, these kits gained popularity not only as a practical way to create high-quality rugs that were otherwise too expensive to buy, but also as a refined hobby for the home.

As entertainment options increased and carpets became cheaply available through mass production in places like China or at retailers like IKEA, the practice became less common.

However, pieces from the mid-century era of the 60s and 70s feature a psychedelic, futuristic funk art style.

By the 80s, the trend shifted away from floor rugs toward wall hangings depicting animals, characters, and other imagery.

This piece dates from the 70s to the 80s and is made of warm wool material.

It’s long and narrow, not too large, making it easy to hang casually.

Feel free to hang it wherever you like—perhaps on a bare wall or in the restroom to brighten the space.

You can hang it by passing a thumbtack or a thin nail through the brown wool strip sewn onto the top of the reverse side.
