A beautiful Bohemian glass bowl tray from 1960s Czechoslovakia.
I never tire of admiring it. It features the beautiful, colorful marble patterns unique to vintage Czech Bohemia Glass.
This bowl incorporates pink, orange, and vitamin yellow, with a wonderful touch of green at the base as an accent.
This piece is an iconic item of mid-century modern glass that I have even seen featured in books—a true "on-book" piece.
Because the color is infused into the thick glass with its uneven curves,
it is a beautiful object that takes on different expressions depending on the viewing angle and how the light hits it.
It can be used to hold small items like keys or accessories, but it also has a strong presence just sitting on its own.
I was able to purchase a collection of these from an antique shop owner the other day, and they taught me quite a bit about them; apparently, this is a 1960s work by an artist named Josef Rozinek. Combined with the substantial weight of the glass, it looks even more stunning in person than in the photos.
Among the various types of Czech glass, this artist’s unique sense of coloring is truly wonderful. It is even more beautiful in person than in the photos.
I was lucky to be able to acquire these in bulk, but Bohemian glass of this caliber has become increasingly difficult to find in recent years.
It is highly valued and traded among professional antique dealers, right alongside Italian Murano glass.
