We’ve remade some cool 70s French workwear into a matching set.
It was originally a cool jumpsuit, but since it was a bit too large,
we had it tailored to a size that fits well on both men and women.
It features a rare, subtly striped brown fabric that looks almost like a suit,
and comes with a military-style orange nylon lining, making it very durable and well-constructed. It would surely look cool worn inside out as well.
The top has the original front zip that goes down to just above the waist,
but it is designed as a pullover rather than a jacket.
Since the zip can be opened fully, it can be worn easily by men as well.
We added reinforcement fabric to the inside of the hems and kept the original elastic at the back of the waist.
The pants have an elastic waist and feature period-correct SCOVILL zippers and hooks.
They feature original independent pockets as well as pass-through pockets, and the two back pockets are super convenient.
The black zippers on the chest and back were likely added by a previous owner as a modification, using TARON zips. These zippered pockets are very useful.
Snap buttons on the cuffs and hems allow for a more shaped fit.
European jumpsuits are generally too large and difficult to purchase, but
I loved this one so much that I took the plunge and had it extensively reworked.
Actually, I had this remade over five years ago back when I was still in Japan, and I just discovered it at my parents' house recently and brought it back. Haha.
I still think it’s absolutely amazing. I’ve been debating whether to keep it for myself, but I’d be happy if it resonates with someone else!
