Sooo special black material! These are truly magnificent garments.
From 70s Italian label Krizia, an intensely cool pair of black cotton shorts.
They feature a mysterious cotton fabric with a coated feel,
thin yet crisp, with a luxurious material quality that creates beautiful shadows due to its unique tension and sheen.
Regardless, they are so incredibly cool that I'm blown away.
The fabric quality makes the "made in Italy" label perfectly understandable, and these shorts serve as a wonderful new discovery regarding the Italian designer Krizia.
What's amazing isn't just the fabric, but the design, which is packed with meticulous details despite its simple appearance.
They feature pleats in both the front and back for a generous, voluminous silhouette,
and the perfect length—hitting just right at the knee—would look absolutely stunning paired with boots.
Personally, what really got me was the fine, sashiko-style machine stitching at the waist.
It’s a technique meant for reinforcing the fabric, but incorporating it into an all-black piece is incredibly modish.
Instead of creating contrast through simple, mismatched materials, the way they incorporate an unexpected element through stitch-work shows such immense sense that I almost collapsed.
Krizia was founded by Mariuccia Mandelli in 1954,
and as early as the 60s, she was known as "Crazy Krizia" for using unusual fabrics and materials like cork and eel leather to construct innovative forms.
They are also famous for being the first to present women's mini-length hot pants on the runway in 1971, at a time when midi and maxi lengths were the trend.
Reaching their peak in the 70s, Krizia is an essential Italian fashion house alongside Ferre and Missoni,
yet pieces from their older archives are rarely found, making this an extremely precious find.
The condition is like new, as if they were made yesterday.
The zipper is an NZ brand, commonly used in high-end Italian products from around the 60s, but these were produced in the early 70s. In any case, this is incredible. I've stumbled upon some insane vintage! Haha
