The 746 is a "Student" model of the 646, making it a bit of a lesser-known style.
Based on the 646, it has a slightly slimmer overall fit and a milder flare.
I also found it has a bit more room around the thighs compared to the 517.
That said, the way it flares out dramatically from below the knee is quintessential of the denim from the heart of the 70s hippie culture.
It's precisely because they aren't "on trend" right now that choosing them feels so cool. I think it’s refreshing and a great way to enjoy fashion freely.
They were quite short on me at 167cm, so I recommend them for petite women under 160cm.
The waist is labeled as a 26, but it felt a little roomier (actual measurement is about 26.7). The hip area is quite tight.
Additionally, the color retention is excellent for a piece of this era. If you wear them frequently, you'll definitely get some great whisker fades.
If you prefer to keep the color dark and avoid shrinkage, I recommend minimizing washing as you break them in.
