Originally, kits for hand-weaving high-quality rugs at home had been in circulation since the early 19th century,
and between the 30s and 60s, they flourished as a practical way to acquire expensive high-quality rugs and as a popular home hobby.
As entertainment options increased and carpets became cheaply available through mass production in China and retailers like IKEA, they became less common,
and by the 80s, these floor rugs were no longer being made;
however, in the 60s and 70s, grandmothers were mass-producing these rugs at home.
Because the quality of the fibers themselves was so good back then, the rug remains in beautiful condition to this day.
It will continue to last for a long time to come. It would also make a wonderful gift.
