Truly cute and lovely shorts.
The generous pleats give them such a wide flare they almost look like a skirt.
The warm, thick wool fabric and the faded plaid pattern are also truly adorable.
The waist is about a 28, making it a golden size.
These are from the brand's early days in the 80s, but they still look timeless even now,
and I'm sure they will remain a truly wonderful, trend-defying piece of clothing for years to come.
The waist design features beautiful tucks, so they look clean and cute tucked in, but
I happened to be wearing an oversized knit, so I tried them on underneath,
and the voluminous silhouette was so lovely too. They make you want to style them in so many different ways.
I’m sure they would look absolutely cool with a slightly oversized leather biker jacket,
or perhaps with socks and loafers for a schoolgirl-like vibe—oh, my imagination is running wild.
I actually wasn't familiar with Alberta Ferretti, but these shorts were so magnificent that
I looked up the name on the tag and discovered her for the first time.
And to my surprise, news broke two hours ago that she is retiring as the brand's designer, with the SS collection announced last week being her final one. It’s strange how such coincidences happen. It’s mysterious.
Alberta started her brand in '81 and has led the label bearing her own name for over 40 years;
she often crafted glamorous outfits for celebrities' important moments at award ceremonies and film festivals,
and in recent years, she has even worked on tour costumes for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
Early ready-to-wear pieces from Alberta Ferretti don't come around often, and although we have rummaged through Italian vintage and second-hand shops countless times, we are very happy to have encountered these for the first time at this very moment.
I’m sure the brand will continue to evolve under a new creative director,
but because these are from the era when she was personally in charge, they will certainly become even harder to find and their value is bound to rise.
Of course, even setting the brand and its background aside, they are simply such wonderful clothes that I truly recommend them.
