80s leather patchwork tote bag

Black leather patchwork tote bag.

I was surprised by its high quality.

Judging by the zipper used, it likely dates back to the 80s.

If you look closely, the texture of the leather is slightly different on the front and back;

one side is likely cordovan, the finest-grained part of horse leather taken from the rump.

The other side appears to be cow or horse leather with more visible skin texture and character.

Both are of extremely high quality—lustrous, supple, and in such wonderful condition that it's hard to believe they are about 40 years old.

They have been hand-stitched together in a patchwork design.

The handles are also handmade, of course, and it is easy to use with a zipper closure.

It is lined inside and features three compartments. It has a gusset, so it holds a considerable amount.
