My first time buying Schott.
While in Paris recently, I spotted an A-2 jacket with a great vibe, and upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Schott.
The tag is missing, but based on the buttons and zipper, I believe it dates back to around the 1980s.
The A-2 is a U.S. military flight jacket; while the originals were horsehide, this one is cowhide. Horsehide takes quite a while to break in, but because this is made of cowhide, it's soft and easy to wear. I'm happy about that.
This piece just has a fantastic atmosphere, and it's in great condition, so you can still wear it hard and tough. Personally, I think it's in the coolest possible state.
Since buying it, I've applied oil to the whole piece at home, and it’s even better now.
It has aged beautifully all over, and since it takes so much time to get it to this point, I’m filled with gratitude toward the previous owner. Haha.
I see a few of these A-2 jackets (regardless of brand) whenever I go on buying trips, but I’ve always passed on them due to the leather quality, size, or condition. This time, I’ve finally found one I’m satisfied with. This is our first time stocking one at the shop.
It’s a classic leather jacket silhouette, and though I'm sure you're used to seeing it, photographing, maintaining, and wearing it made me realize once again how cool it is.
I think these are really great again right now. You could add pins to it, or style it with something cleaner—it's surprisingly versatile.
Personally, I’d keep it simple and wear it with jeans, sneakers, and a hoodie.
The size is also comfortably roomy without being too big—it's just right in many ways.
It’s a piece that I'm proposing because, once again, it’s just cool.
Plus, since few people are wearing them right now, I think that makes it even better.
