A 90s velour Chinese-style jacket by French designer Sonia Rykiel.
Inspired by a Chinese-style jacket, it features a languid ivory-beige velvet that feels like a layer against the skin.
I snatched this up because it's just incredible. Like the navy one, it works perfectly as a single top, but it also functions beautifully as a jacket when unbuttoned—the balance is exquisite.
Above all, this velour material is of unbelievably high quality. It’s a cut above the velour we typically imagine.
In any case, it is thick. The dealer described it as "sweatshirt material." (lol) I can see why; it’s a very substantial fabric.
The condition is also fantastic. Since the fabric is tough, it’s easy to wash and should last for years to come.
The design of the pockets and buttons is excellent, as is the mastery of the pattern. The generous width, the thickness of the sleeves, and the balance of the length—it looks lovely from every angle, whether your arms are up or down.
Sonia Rykiel often used this high-quality velour in the 90s, and since I happened to come across another item from the same era elsewhere, I decided to release them together.
The care label is missing, but this is a common occurrence with 90s Sonia Rykiel pieces. (lol)
