AW'2001 C.P. COMPANY Nylon coat, inspired by the French Army M35 Motorcycle coat

The first time I saw this CP piece, I knew it was unforgettable.

First off, it’s just too cool. When I first sourced it, I didn't even realize it was CP. I thought it was an old French motorcycle coat; it's likely sampled from one. The front button design, the sleeves, the design of the underside around the feet, the silhouette, and the fabric—it’s all there.

But true to the brand, they’ve managed this texture without the epaulets.

At first, I thought it might be linen, but it's 90% nylon and 10% metallic thread—it's an incredible fabric. Haha.

It has a subtle, elegant sheen without being flashy. The color is beige, but it changes expression depending on how the light hits it. The fabric is crisp yet smooth with a bit of firmness; it's a shame you can't touch it, as it's truly surprising.

It’s a tech-style fabric, but it sits in this exquisite position where it doesn’t lean too far into that aesthetic. This brand is truly amazing. I'm late to the party, I know, but I’m blown away all over again.

It’s also not heavy at all. Although it launched in the Fall/Winter of 2001, the fabric weight makes it wearable throughout the year, except for summer.

This airy, oversized, relaxed silhouette and those thick sleeves—it’s just too cool.

This is the kind of coat I want to wear. For the coming season, I’d love to enjoy it simply with a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. The aura it gives off is incredible.

It’s definitely a starting-lineup contender for my coat collection.
