A silver cuff bangle with a bamboo design.

Bamboo has long been used as a motif, particularly in France, where it is considered a symbol of good fortune due to its resilience against rain and wind and its straight growth.

It is treated in the same way as the knot designs we often introduce at TOTO, and I personally have a great fondness for bamboo designs.

The ring I wear every day is also bamboo. (Not that anyone asked!)

Perhaps because it is so familiar to us as Japanese people, it holds a noble image that sets it apart from ordinary plants, and I am happy to be able to wear it.

These are often seen in 60s-70s French vintage jewelry, and while the exact era of this piece is unknown, it is of French origin.

While the Tiffany bamboo bangle is famous, and various brands like Jil Sander make them now,

this design moves away from a literal representation of bamboo to something more pop-inspired, while still retaining a vintage mood.

It is not hollow, but solid silver, giving it a substantial feel on the wrist.

As it is a cuff style, it has some flexibility, and it looks wonderful worn not only on bare skin but also over a jacket or shirt.

This is a neat and elegant vintage piece that I highly recommend.
