A dreamy, handmade jumpsuit made with an abundance of lace fabric.
Soft gauze cotton is adorned with Battenburg lace motifs
all over the sleeves, pant legs, and even the back.
It even features delicate embroidery on the front placket, collar, and back.
The back view is absolutely luxurious.
It’s truly lovely, so please take a good look at the photos.
I found this hanging in an antique shop in a quiet corner of Germany,
and I have truly never seen a lace garment like this before.
While you often see dresses or blouses remade from lace tablecloths,
the idea of doing it for a jumpsuit... is brilliant.
Germany is famous for this type of appliquéd Battenburg lace,
and "Batten" is apparently an abbreviation for the German village where it originated.
It’s surprising that beyond France and Italy, lace culture was so vibrant in Germany.
It was a wonderful discovery of a new side of German culture for me.
Furthermore, despite being handmade, the construction is meticulous.
It is fully lined except for the sleeves, and features pockets on both sides of the waist.
You can secure the front overlap and the inner waist with ties, so you don't have to worry about the chest area coming loose. Please refer to the close-up photo of the front placket.
There is tape along the sides.
It looks sleek and cute when cinched at the waist,
but the loose, straight silhouette around the torso is also wonderfully boyish and cool.
I just hope whoever gets this truly enjoys it.
An incredible piece that really stirs the desire to own it.
