Dead Stock 1960s VEB East German Corduroy Work Trousers - w36

A pair of vintage VEB corduroy work pants, back after a long hiatus.

These have arrived as deadstock.

For those who need a refresher, "VEB" refers to state-owned enterprises in the former East Germany, which were dissolved in 1989.

This particular pair was issued to workers in East Germany back in the 1960s.

They feature a durable corduroy fabric in an exquisite color. Just too cool.

The quality of the fabric was designed to withstand the heavy labor of the time. Despite that, it’s not overly thick and is exceptionally comfortable to wear—a truly luxurious pair.

Since the former East Germany wasn't as affluent as the West at the time, functionality was prioritized over aesthetics. That is why the fabric is top-notch, yet the design remains simple and minimalist.

I personally love this normcore design—it’s not flashy at all and strips away any unnecessary elements. I believe that vintage items that look plain at first glance are the ones truly worth loving.

Also, I recently heard from an acquaintance who lived in the former East Germany that, due to the socialist system, workwear was seen as an indicator of one's status, so it seems everyone wore almost identical clothing while working.

Since I’ve been fortunate enough to have many new customers recently, I’ve written a bit of background info for the first time in a while. Haha.

This pair is a size W36, but as you can see me doing, it looks great cinched tight with a belt.

With a great silhouette and high-quality fabric, this is a perfect pair with nothing to complain about.

This is a clean vintage piece that I highly recommend even to those who aren't usually fans of secondhand clothing.
