A cotton sateenステンカラー (stand-collar) coat from Italian brand Fraizzoli.
Though slightly thin, the cotton has a rich, lustrous finish.
Being 100% cotton sateen, it lacks the synthetic sheen of chemical fibers,
offering a more refined luster and smoother drape than standard cotton.
This moderate luster gives an elegant expression to the shadows created by the fabric's folds and the light.
It is simply a beautiful, high-fashion fabric.
It’s amazing to think this was used for a work coat.
"Fraizzoli & c." was founded in Milan, Italy, in 1923,
and still exists today as a manufacturer of uniforms and workwear.
They are said to have insisted on "made in Italy" production for uniforms for state projects, including the military and police.
I only discovered this manufacturer after coming across this piece,
but the garment has a remarkable atmosphere that makes their history easy to believe.
Lately, I have been very impressed by Italian clothing.
It features a basic work design with three chest and waist pockets,
and while it is a jacket, it has such an exquisite weight—not too thick, not too thin—that it can be worn like a shirt under a substantial outer layer.
It’s the coolest black workwear I’ve ever seen.
And it has that special quality that allows it to be worn unisex.
