An old French silver bracelet.
A design that is, if not exactly reminiscent of, then uncannily similar to a certain Hermès model.
It features a design of round links and knotted rope, with the clasp integrated into one of the links (again, just like the original).
One look at this fine, detailed ropework is enough to know it is the handiwork of a French silversmith.
The rope, which achieves a realistic texture, and the dynamism of the knots are always magnificent to behold;
it is a piece that brings together meticulous engraving techniques and a keen sense for three-dimensional form.
The balance when worn is also wonderful. Neither too large nor too delicate—what an elegant bracelet.
At the time, creations by famous high-end jewelry houses like Hermès, Gucci, and Tiffany were being imitated everywhere from France to Mexico and Africa.
Among them, France is notable for having had workshops that crafted silver for Hermès since early on,
and occasionally, items are found that are nearly identical to Hermès in both design and quality.
While it would be illegal to add a brand name without authorization, this piece is unstamped, and because its quality is so exceptional, I value it highly as a standalone work of jewelry.
Of course, the authentic version would cost dozens of times more; it's difficult to put into words, but... it was made during the same era by a French silversmith with equivalent high-level skills, just without the name attached—so that is what this is.
During this recent trip to Paris, I met with my usual jeweler, and while I get all my silver from him,
and have requested pieces with this type of design, they are difficult to collect...
By the way, the texture of the rope is subtly different from the original piece; this one has an even more realistic design.

Usually, a lozenge shape denotes the workshop, but this piece features an oval mark I have rarely seen.
Although it is French, it is a rare item that is difficult to date even approximately. I believe it is no newer than the 1970s.
