A very old French costume jacket.
Likely a costume worn by a performer at the time;
as it is handmade, there are no tags,
but based on the fabric and construction, it is likely a vintage piece from the 1940s or earlier.
It features thick wool material decorated with velour accents.
With a row of silver medals lining the front and
brass buttons on the cuffs featuring intricate floral engravings,
it is a piece unique to vintage costumes,
combining wool and cotton with disparate decorative materials.
Stage costumes are often quite flashy,
but this one is all-black, making it easy to incorporate into daily wear.
Among costumes not intended for everyday use,
it is rare to find a "wearable" one, and personally, I would love to see someone pull this off.
Due to its smaller size, I have priced it affordably.
It was a bit small on me, so it looks a bit tight in the photos,
but for those it fits, I think the cropped, compact silhouette with 3/4 length sleeves would look beautiful.
