The cuff design allows them to be worn anywhere on the ear, and when I first placed one on top of my ear, it honestly made my heart skip a beat. It sits so perfectly that it feels like it was always meant to be there.
I actually own a piece like this myself and have worn it for a long time; it is surprisingly comfortable with no pain, and it is sturdy enough that I never worry about it falling off.
I was moved by a design that seems to know the human body inside out. Though it is a small piece of silver, it feels like the crystallization of countless hours of jewelry craftsmanship and exploration into the human form! It is truly magnificent.
The side features Minas's iconic handwritten signature, and the inner side bears the Georg Jensen and S925 hallmarks, though they are quite tarnished and difficult to see.
The design number is engraved on the lower part of the clip, and the back of the clip is accented with pure gold. It isn't visible from the front, but I believe it is a thoughtful detail for the skin.
Born in Greece in 1938, Minas Spiridis began training in goldsmithing as a teenager. By the 1960s, he had already begun designing jewelry and was working independently after moving to New York.
In 1992, he became a pioneer as the first non-Scandinavian designer in Georg Jensen's history to be appointed.
Among Georg Jensen's designers, Minas is niche in the best sense of the word, with very little of his work or information appearing in circulation.
From a very young age, Minas reportedly viewed jewelry not merely as adornment, but as small sculptures.
Every one of his pieces is captivating, with a beautifully pared-down worldview that truly embodies his philosophy.
